2 Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
Though we are in this world, we should never forget that we are not of this world and we are on assignment.
Think about this, soldiers do not engage themselves with the affairs of this life as citizens do. Their focus is to fulfill the commands of him who has enlisted them that they should please him.
The Bible tells us that where our treasures is there our hearts will be also. If we treasure the things of the world more than spiritual things, things that are seen more than those that are unseen, then our faith will fail when the things that are seen are shaken because that is where we will have invested our hearts.
You cannot love the world and the things of the world and claim to love the Father because to love the world is to declare enmity with God.
Each one of us must make a choice to disentangle ourselves from the things of the world and to attach ourselves to the things of the spirit if our faith is to remain standing and that is a choice we have to make daily.
Reflections.
Where is your treasure, on earth or in heaven?
Are you more concerned about the things of the world or the things of the spirit?
What must you do to ensure that you do not fall in love with the things of the world?
