Effective Bible Study: Thoughts and Intents

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The way we perceive the word of God will determine how we interact with it. If we see it as just any other book, then we will interact with it like any other book but if we have the revelation that it is the eternal word of God, then we will interact with it from that perspective.
The word of God is living and powerful, that makes it different than any other book you will find on the face of this earth. It does not just contain words and stories like other books, it is the very life of God. In fact the word of God is not a book, the word is a person.
John tells us that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. Jesus is the word of God and when we study the word, we get to know who God is but that’s not all, we also get to know who we truly are. This word is able to divide between soul and spirit and it’s also able to search and reveal the thoughts and intents of our heart.
Through the word we not only get to see how lost we are, but we also get to see the plan of God to get us where we need to be.
Jesus came that we may have life the word is life.

Do you believe that the Bible is the word of God or do you treat it just like any other book.
