Psalm 119:105 NKJV “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:130 NKJV “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
Have you ever tried to walk around your house in the night without lights? Though you know the layout of your house, you will still find yourself bumping into things all over the place. The moment you switch on the light, you are set free.
As the Psalmist said, the word of God is a lamp unto my feet, meaning it illuminates my path so that I know where to place my next step. As a light unto my path it illuminates the path ahead of me.
Darkness signified oppression and hopelessness while light brings in liberty and freedom, no wonder the bible says that you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. The word of God is the truth, the word of God is light, Jesus is the word of God. Remember he said that he is the light and also he is the word.
When we allow the light of the word of God’s word to enter our souls, then the darkness, fear and ignorance leaves our life, we are set free. It is only in the light of God’s word that we are able to reach our full potential and realize the purpose for which God created us for.
The word of God is not just light, but with it also comes understanding because with illumination comes understanding. Through the word of God, the simple become wise. We have the responsibility to respond to the light, to love it and to embrace it then we can be beneficiaries of the blessings that are made available in the light.
How often to you switch on the light of Gods word when you find yourself in dark situations? If the Bible is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, how often do you refer to it before you makes life’s decisions?
