Psalm 119:130 NKJV
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
Knowing the word of God is one thing but allowing it to enter is another level all together. When we allow the word of God to enter into our hearts then it brings forth light into our lives. That light gives us the ability not to walk in darkness. David says in this same Psalm;
Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Hiding his word in our hearts goes far beyond memorizing scripture. Hiding his word in our hearts is about studying the word of God to grasp and understand what it is saying and taking it a step further to apply what we have studied in our life’s, hence keeping us from sinning against God. it is in the application that the light of the word takes effect and is seen. Reading the word of God without applying it is committing spiritual abortion.
We are to let our light shine before men they may see our good works and give glory to our father in heaven!
When we study his word allowing it to enter into our lives, then it becomes the lamp unto our feet and the light unto our path. Light brings understanding showing us where to step next as we continue with our journey of becoming more like Jesus and also illuminating the path directing us in the direction we are to go. Even those who seem simple just like the disciples, suddenly have understanding because of taking the time to study the word of God!
Remember Jesus is the word because according to John, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. Jesus said that he is the light of the world and anyone who follows him will not walk in darkness. The entrance of Gods word has to begin with embracing Christ and his way of life, then and only then will he who is the light of the world be able to bring illumination and understanding into your life as you live a life that is totally surrendered to him!
