Do Not Worry: Oh Ye of Little Faith

Matthew 6:30-32 NKJV
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
The bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God because those that come to him must believe that he is and that he is a rewarded of them that diligently seek him. Before Jesus talks about our little faith, he focuses on two logical examples that are right before us every day. These are things that we see, but we do not give much thought to them, yet they are a daily reminder of God’s faithfulness. The birds of the air which do not sow or reap and yet, God ensures they are fed daily. Then we have the lilies of the field, which are only here for such a short time and yet, God clothes them with such splendour that Jesus says that Solomon in all his wealth would not even compare in how he dressed compared to the lilies.
What Jesus is telling us is that if we would take the time to consider the examples he has given us, then we would have the faith to believe that God will provide for us because we are of more worth than the birds and the lilies.
When we understand that God is our heavenly father, and he cares for us, when we understand our worth to him and how loves us and cares for us, then we will not worry about what we will eat and what we will wear.
Even with a little faith, if we have a basic understanding of these fundamentals, and we are busy seeking after God’s kingdom, then we should not worry about our basic needs because we are assured that God will come through for us.
Reflections:
Do you believe God will provide what you need, or are you constantly worried?
If you believe that God can provide, what then is the genesis of your worry?
Has God ever provided for you in a supernatural, unexpected way? What happened?
