Discover your Gift

1 Corinthians 12:7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit [the spiritual illumination and the enabling of the Holy Spirit] for the common good.

Imagine having a gift and not knowing what it is, meaning you have no idea how to use it. That’s the plight of many believers.
The first step in discovering that spiritual gift that God has given you is faith. Remember without faith it is impossible to please God. We must have the faith that God has given us spiritual gifts to build up the body. Reading the scriptures to know what these gifts are and what the bible says about them is the next important step because how then do you desire that which you know not about? Reading the word will not only inform you of the gifts, it will also grow your faith for faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Reading the word will also give you an understanding of why God has given us these gifts lest you discover your gift and you end up misusing it.

Prayer is the next important step, talk to God and ask him to begin to reveal to you the gifts that he has give you. 1 Corinthians 14: 1 tells us to desire spiritual gifts and as you desire and talk to God about this issue, he will set you off on a journey of discovery.
Faith without works is dead and thus after you have prayed, plug in and find a place to serve. One of the most amazing things I have discovered is that service opens up doors of discovery and opportunities for connections that might never have taken root had you not served. Serving puts you in a place of humility and it is in this place of service that you start to see and hear the fruit of your service from others. Remember the gifts are given for the benefit of all and as you serve God will confirm that which he has deposited in you.

Remember you have to step out in faith and use what you have been given. Do not allow the enemy to discourage you by making you doubt that you have been gifted.
