Acts 4:13 (AMP)
13 Now when the men of the Sanhedrin (Jewish High Court) saw the confidence and boldness of Peter and John, and grasped the fact that they were [a]uneducated and untrained [ordinary] men, they were astounded, and began to recognize that they had been with Jesus.
Peter and John were ordinary unschooled men but here they were before the Sanhedrin who marvelled at the authority they displayed in speech and deeds. The two men were walking and functioning under the power of the Holy Spirit.
A true disciple of Jesus is one who walks in the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said;
Mark 16:17-18 (AMP)
17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”
A disciple of Jesus walks in the power of the Holy Spirit and that is why these signs accompany them.
When one is truly a disciple of Jesus then they become more like Him in their character attitude and speech. They just don’t give lip service; you can see Jesus in them because it is no longer them that live but Christ who lives in them.
A true disciple of Christ is always growing and maturing in Him because their life is founded in the word of God. Their life is continually being aligned to the word of God and that same word is the final authority in their life.
A true disciple of Christ walks in love and the fruit of the Spirit is evident in their life. They have a passion for the lost souls and they are consistently taking the opportunity to tell others about the kingdom of God.
