Man is a social being we need to connect with others; isolation does not do us any good. In fact one of the things recommended in order to be healthy mentally it’s to connect with people because social connections are critical to our well-being.
The same applies to our spiritual well-being on two levels connecting with others and connecting with God.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (AMP)
18 But all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him],19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them [but canceling them]. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation [that is, restoration to favor with God].
Reconciliation, connection that was the purpose of Christ’s coming. It would be sad if we ignored or trivialized the very thing that Christ died for. Imagine him giving his all so that connection would be restored between man and God and then we do not take the time to make that connection. Jesus said he is the vine and we are the branches for us to thrive we have to keep the connection intact because apart from him we can do nothing. Connecting with God is important but also equally important is our connection with each other.
Hebrews 10:25 (AMP)
25 not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
God knew the importance of us connecting with each other, and thus we are exhorted not to forsake assembling together as some are in the habit of doing especially in this age where we are replacing face to face connections with gadgets. We are the body of Christ and for us to be healthy we have to remain connected. Imagine how effective your body would be if all the parts were disjointed each one doing what they feel is right for them, now that would be chaotic. One of the lies the devil has peddled among some believers is that as long as they have a relationship with Jesus they do not need to connect with someone else. That is a lie. God wants us to connect because as we do so we are able to edify one another. Gods Spirit gifts us differently so that when we work together then we are able to edify and minister to each other because you have something that I need and I have something that you need and when we come together in unity then something powerful is released and God is magnified.
Do you want to be spiritual healthy? Keep the connection between you and God active and as you do so also connect with other believers be part of a local church because that is equally important too.
