Romans 8: 14-15 NKJV
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Does God speak to men? Yes he does but just because he speaks does not necessarily mean that we listen. He is a father, and a good good father; in fact he is the perfect father and he speaks to his children. How we perceive him determines the attitude we have towards him and our perception of how he speaks to us. Do you see him as a good father or a harsh task master?
Those who are his children are led by his Spirit. When you allow yourself to be led by the Holy Spirit and not the flesh then you will hear from God. He will direct you in the way that you should go. This takes humility and faith for remember without faith it is impossible to please God.
It is the Holy Spirit who illuminates the word of God to us when we read it and it is He who reveals Jesus to us. Even to those who are yet to know Christ, it is the same Holy Spirit who convicts them of the sin in their life. The Holy Spirit makes us both to will and to do God’s pleasure.
We need to have a broken heart and a contrite spirit one that will easily say yes to the will of God and no to the flesh and personal will. It is not that God does not speak, the issue many times is that our hearts are not broken enough so we keep holding on to our will and we keep giving in to the desires of the flesh making us not to be sensitive to the still small voice of God.
May you and I position ourselves to not only hear but walk in the will of our heavenly Father.
