A pig and a hen sharing the same barnyard heard about a church’s program to feed the hungry. The pig and the hen discussed how they could help. The hen said, “I’ve got it! We’ll provide bacon and eggs for the church to feed the hungry.” The pig thought about the suggestion and said, “There’s only thing wrong with your bacon and eggs idea. For you, it only requires a contribution, but from me, it will mean total commitment!”
Matthew 22:37 (AMP)
37 And Jesus replied to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’
God is on the lookout for people who will be committed to him. To be committed is to be dedicated, it is to put your time and energy into something or someone and that is what God is looking for a people who are totally sold out to him.
When Jesus came to lay down his life for us, he was committed to the cause. He did not allow persecution, Pain, false accusations and even betrayal to shift his commitment. He was focused and he accomplished what he had set out to do. He gave his all 100% and God is looking for us to be that committed. Jesus said
Matthew 10:37 (AMP)
37 “[a]He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Family is what most of us treasure the most. Many of us would do anything for our family because of the love and bond we share with them. I have seen people steal and even lie for the sake of their family. Some have even committed murders for the sake of their family. That is how strong the bond of commitment is within family units.
Jesus comes onto the scene and says that if you love your family more than you love him then you are not fit to be in his kingdom, whether it is you parents or your children. Jesus is asking that you and I stay committed to him no matter what. Just like a marriage that has no commitment will not work, trying to serve Jesus without being totally committed to Him will not work.
Revelation 3:15-16 (AMP)
15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are [a]neither cold (invigorating, refreshing) nor hot (healing, therapeutic); I wish that you were [b]cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust].
Jesus clearly states that he will spew out those who are not committed to him because his kingdom is not for half hearted people.
To be committed to God you cannot make a CONTRIBUTION of eggs like the hen, you must be COMMITTED to lay down your life and provide the bacon like the pig, when you commit, you do so with your LIFE!
