Genesis 21:33 NKJV
33 Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.
I still remember the first time I stood at the base of the biggest pyramid in Egypt staring at this humongous structure that man had put together many years ago. To think that these structures have withstood the test of time was just unbelievable. I remember going to the internet to look for the earliest pictures of the pyramids ever taken and I was shocked to see how the landscape around the pyramids had changed from one generation to another till today. But even with all that, there was a time when the pyramids were none existent because it was man who built them.
God on the other hand is everlasting! Sometimes that becomes hard to comprehend with our limited human brain and the fact that we are confined to time makes it even the more complicated to understand. God is everlasting meaning he has no beginning and he has no end. He was there in our past, he is there in our present and he is already there in our future. That needs time to digest.
If God is everlasting then it means that his attributes are also everlasting remember he changes not, he is the same yesterday today and forever. No wonder then we must make him the foundation of our life because he is stable and he can be relied upon because he is everlasting.
Man has been obsessed with immortality for such a long time but this one thing is for sure, on our own we cannot attain it but when we choose to hide in our God who is everlasting, then we attain eternal life in him because he is eternal.
Jehovah EL Olam our everlasting God.
