Character and Beauty: The Proverbs 31 Woman

Proverbs 31:25
Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come.

One of the things that is so evident about the Proverbs 31 woman is her character. Strength and honor are her clothing. Her strength is displayed in the way she runs her home, her businesses and the way she takes care of her children and her husband.
She is clothed with honor. This means that she is recognized and respected for her achievements, not only in her home but also in the community. Her maidservants have something good to say about her because of how she cares for them. The people she does business with also have something good to say about her because she is a woman of noble character. Her husband is also respected and honored at the city gates.
Her beauty is from the inside which is a great lesson for us to learn because many in this generation are moved by external beauty only to later find out that the person they married has pathetic character traits. This woman is beautiful from the inside because she is a woman who fears God and walks with Him. Her deep relationship with God has moulded her character.

Proverbs 31:22
22 She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

Though she is beautiful on the inside, she also takes care of the outside. She is a woman who takes great care of herself. She is dressed in fine linen and purple. Fine linen in the Bible usually is a representation of purity and truth. Fine linen was part of the priestly garment and it was also one of the garments that Pharaoh placed on Joseph as a garment of honor. The color purple depicts royalty, wealth and status which this woman has, not because of her material possessions but because of who she is from the inside.

This is a woman who works hard and takes good care of herself. She looks good and dresses well and she takes care of those around her. I am sure her husband feels blesses when she walks along by his side.
She is beautiful on the inside and on the outside.
