Can I Have a Witness?

Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be [a]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

This week we are looking at the works of ministry that the five-fold (Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers, Prophets and Apostles) are to prepare the saints to do. One of the things we established yesterday is that as long as you are born again, you are in full time ministry wherever God has placed you because now you are an ambassador of the heavenly kingdom on earth.

I believe that being a witness is one of the most important ministries that every believer has. After Jesus ascended back to heaven he told those that he had disciple and walked with not to do anything but to wait until they were empowered from on high before embarking on the task He had given them which was to make disciples of all nations.
In the book of Acts when they were all together in one accord, the Holy Spirit fell upon them like tongues of fire and the bible says that they received boldness and went out to be witnesses and tell others about Christ and what He had done for them. Peter preached and on that one day 3000 people were added to their number.

How often do you tell others about Christ and what He has done for you? I believe that we miss out on many opportunities to be witnesses because we’re afraid to tell about God and what He is doing in our life. We have become apologetic about our faith, we are afraid that if we share then we will offend others or we will look weird. The truth is we are weird because the values of God that we subscribe to are contrary to the philosophies of the world.

The Holy Spirit gives us power to be witnesses for Christ, to display His glory in our lives and to tell others about what He has done for them. He gives us the boldness like Peter on the day of Pentecost to declare that Jesus is Lord. Are you a witness? Are you telling others firsthand information of what God has done in your life?
Remember;

Romans 8:19 (NIV)
19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

It is time to overcome fear and come out of hiding, it is time to stand up and be a witness!
