Suppose someone were to offer you and I a hundred thousand shillings for every soul we earnestly try to lead to Christ, would we endeavor to lead any more souls to him than we are endeavoring to do now? This is one of those questions that you pause and think about long and hard before you answer.
Honestly speaking, could it be that we would attempt to do for money, even at the risk of blunders or ridicule, what we hesitate or shrink from doing now in obedience to God’s command? Is our love of money stronger than our love of God or souls?
Romans 1:13 (AMP)
13 I do not want you to be unaware, [a]brothers and sisters, that many times I have planned to come to you, (and have been prevented so far)so that I may have some fruit [of my labors] among you, even as I have among the rest of the Gentiles.
Paul had an agenda; he was out to win souls for the kingdom. In his ministry to the gentiles he traveled far and wide bringing souls into the kingdom and setting up churches. He suffered persecution and near death experiences but that did not stop him, he forged on!
Proverbs 11:30
The fruit of the [consistently] righteous is a tree of life,
And he who is wise captures and wins souls [for God—he gathers them for eternity].
Even as we talk about fruit bearing, one question that many would ask is this; “What kind of fruit are we to produce?” Souls! For the kingdom to expand we have to win souls and bring others into the kingdom.
Jesus left us with a clear command and direction;
Matthew 28:19
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”
This does not apply to only a select few of Christians, it applies to all believers. God expects us to win others and make disciples of them. Jesus left us with an urgent message. A message so urgent people’s lives are dependent on it but sadly we have taken it so casually we are more concerned about not offending people that telling them the good news of the kingdom. Indeed the harvest is plenteous but the laborers are few.
Declaration
I choose to be wise and win souls. I will go out and make disciples and teach then what Jesus has commanded me. I will not be afraid because God is with me!
