Be Thankful

2 Timothy 3:2 (NLT)
2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful.

The above scripture tells us about the end times and how things will look like. It describes the character of the people who will be living at the time and one of the things it talks about is a people who are ungrateful. How true that is when you look at us today. People today have a sense of entitlement, it’s like everybody owes us something and it’s our right to have it. We live in a culture that encourages us to have more, chase after more no matter the cost and thus you have a people always complaining about what they don’t have and they feel they are entitled to have while forgetting to give thanks for what they have.
One of the hallmarks of this generation is stress. Everywhere you turn people are stressed and anxious always worrying always trying to make things work in their own strength and wisdom.

Philippians 4:6 (NLT)
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

The remedy for stress and anxiety is prayer and thanksgiving. You and I always ought to thank God for what He has done, and that is a lot. Reminds me of the song that says;

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God has done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

According to Philippians 4:7 a heart that is full of thanksgiving is guarded by the peace of God and so is the mind. Peace not because you have everything that you want or everything that the world tells you to get, but peace because you are grateful for what God has done for you and you understand His love for you and that He has a good plan for you and His plan is to give you the best.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)
16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

In case you have ever wondered what God’s will for you is, well here it is in black and white; Be joyful always, Never stop praying and be thankful in all circumstances!
