All Kinds of Prayer

EPHESIANS 6:18 AMP

With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.

When talking about the full armour of God, we mostly don’t include prayer but it’s part of the offensive weapons of warfare that is made available to us. Right after talking about putting on the full armour of God in Ephesians 6:10-17, Paul goes straight into prayer and he mentions several types of prayer.

With all prayer and petition talks about presenting our specific prayer needs to God. This is the kind of prayer many of us are accustomed to praying for things. But then there is another level. He continues to tell us to pray at all times reminding us of;

1 THESSALONIANS 5:17 AMP

….be unceasing and persistent in prayer;

This means that we should maintain an attitude of prayer throughout the day it has a sense of being alert of what is happening in the spiritual arena, staying connected and in touch with God.

Next we are told to pray in the spirit which reminds us of;

ROMANS 8:26 AMP

In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words.

Next we are urged to be persistent meaning not to relent but to keep at it, ask and keep on asking and stay alert and then he finishes by urging us to make intercession for all the saints meaning prayer should never be a selfish affair where we only pray for ourselves we each have a duty to pray for the body of Christ universally not just those who come to your church but all those who are part of the body of Christ.

Several other verses in the bible talk to us about various kinds of prayers. All in all, prayer is important it should be something we do just to fulfil all righteousness instead it should be our lifestyle.
