Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.
The season is here, the Christmas trees and decorations are up, jingle bells are ringing all around and the festive mood is in the air. People will be travelling to be with friends and family to celebrate this wonderful holiday that is recognized world over.
But as you celebrate, the question is, “What are you celebrating?”
Can you imagine if someone gave you an amazing gift, a gift that would change your life in fact a gift that guarantees you eternal life but you never accept the gift, you never embrace it. Instead, you join millions of people from across the globe each year to celebrate this gift that was given but you have never embraced.
That sounds absurd but it is the reality that many people live in, always celebrating Christmas but never embracing the Christ of Christmas. Like the inn keeper each year they keep saying that there is no room at the inn.
I pray that for you who is reading this, as you read our key verse it will be made personal in your life.
That this child that is born, this son that is given is also born in your life. That he is your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. That he is governing your life and you are part of his kingdom and his peace is the hallmark of your life.
What do you celebrate every Christmas season?
Is Christ born in your heart? What is the assurance you have of this?
Jesus is the reason for the season.
