If you love Jesus, you will love people.

1 John 4:20 (AMP)

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates (works against) his [Christian] brother he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

One of the commands that is repeated over and over in the new testament is “Love one another!” It is not a suggestion, it is a command. In fact Jesus puts it this way;

John 13:35 (AMP)

35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”

One of the ways for the world to identify you and I as disciples of Jesus is the love we have for one another. That tells me that genuine love cannot be hidden, it can not be faked and everyone will know it when they see it.

Do you love people? How do you treat others? Can your love be seen or must you explain it for people to see it?

1 Corinthians 13 gives us the Godly definition of what this love looks like in every day life. It is patient, it is kindness, It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

This is how God expects us to relate with one another because we love Jesus and He is our Lord and Savior.

Sometime we are so quick to discredit those who fall into sinful activities and we castigate them and push then to the corner. We become so unforgiving and we push them off refusing to forgive them even calling the fire from heaven to come and consume them. We become so hardened in extending grace to them forgetting that we will need that same grace extended to us sooner or later. When the woman who was caught in the act of adultery was brought to Jesus, He did not condemn her but He extended grace and told her to go and sin no more!

Take out

Do you love Jesus? If you do then you will naturally love people because that becomes your new nature. We are a body and Christ is the head.

Remember;

Love your neighbour as yourself!
